Last fall the boys started watching the Meteorite Men on TV. J was fascinated. He started digging in our backyard and found "meteorites" (more like rock chips with lots of iron in them) using a magnet. He wanted to do more so he asked for a metal detector for Christmas. He's had fun with it but he has exhausted the backyard looking for stuff.
Yesterday afternoon we went to the park for some digging. It was a frustrating lesson in patience without much reward.


J learned to slow down, not give up, dig carefully and not throw dirt clods. Plus he learned all about pull tabs from the 70's/80's.
