Saturday Night at the Ballpark

We went to another Rangers game on Saturday night. We're trying to get a lot of baseball in early this year. Mostly because we're too busy in the middle of the summer and it is too darn hot. (It is already starting to get hot here in Dallas, we've hit the 90's a few days and average highs are in the upper 80s, I'm not ready for it yet.)

We picked a good game to go to this weekend since we saw a win. The Rangers lost to the Rays on Friday and Sunday, our first series loss of the year. It was a good game except for DH's hour long trek in search of ice cream cookie sandwiches. It was a long ordeal and he still doesn't like to talk about it, unless you mention it, and then he'll tell the whole long story again (just kidding!) I can tell you that the children will not be eating ice cream cookie sandwiches again this year. We ended up staying for the whole game since DH missed so much of it. It was a late night and made for tired kiddos on Sunday, but we all had fun.

DH took this picture at the game.  (K - Another one of me on the blog.)

Camping with B

DH pointed out that I haven't blogged in awhile, in over two weeks. I told him nothing had really happened so I didn't have anything to blog. He conveniently sent me photos from B's Y Guides camp out last weekend.

Easter 2012

We had a lovely Easter weekend including baseball, soccer, egg dyeing, Easter vigil mass, an intense egg hunt, a fish fry with a little rain and more baseball. It was nice and relaxed and enjoyed by all.

I gave up sweets/desserts for Lent. I was excited to break my lenten sacrifice. We had donut muffins with breakfast on Easter morning and I made a peanut butter pie to bring to the ILs for the fish fry. The donut muffins were good but dry. Muffin tops would have been better. The peanut butter pie almost a disaster. My pie pan was a bit small and it overflowed. I was worried that it would never set. In the end, it turned out perfect. I've wanted to make the pie since last August. You can read Jennie's blog to hear the story behind it. The pie was a nice reminder to enjoy this time with our family.

Miscellany

Various things have been going on.  I've taken pictures, but haven't blogged.

A heart Chik-Fil-A

We went to lunch at Chik-Fil-A, finally using the coupons for a free kid's meal that we got at VBS 2011.  Yes, I've had them in the pocket of my purse 9+ months now. (bargain of the day = 4 kids meals, one Chik-Fil-A sandwich combo, $3.40 total)

A opened her ketchup dipping pack and found a heart and we had to take a picture.

Don't you just love Chik-Fil-A?

The Artist

A has another school project, this time on the book The Watsons Go to Birmingham. Most of it is busy work, but one page has to be a drawing. I was so impressed with her effort, I made her let me scan it so I could put it on the blog.

Isn't that awesome?

Treed

Frankie's favorite new pastime, treeing squirrels.

On Saturday he sat at the base of the tree for 30+minutes. We had to leave and he wouldn't go inside. We yelled 'treat' which generally gets him super excited. Nope, he turned his head and went right back to the tree. We took the treat outside to him. He walked toward it. The squirrel saw his chance and tried to make a move. Frankie ran right back to sit under the tree. It took several treats and lots of yelling by DH and the children to finally get him in.

Today, he sat under the tree guarding another squirrel. The squirrel "barked" at him. Frankie barked right back.  They kept it up for awhile. It started to rain, DH & I went inside and Frankie finally gave up and came inside. The storms have finally passed and he's abck out there sniffing for a new one.

Take me out the the ballgames

If you know us, you know that we love baseball. We split season tickets to the Rangers with the ILs this year. Look at all those tickets! The boys are super excited. A is excited too but didn't want her picture taken. It was early in the morning.

Opening Day is in three day! We can't wait.
