As it has become tradition in this family, the celebrations have been going on for a week.
We started with cake on Thanksgiving since the family was here.
My mother made this delicious pumpkin cake with candied nuts. I loved it. I would rather have it instead of the pumpkin pie I made. I did top them both with fresh whipped cream. Yum!
Monday he had his birthday blessing at chapel at school
Tuesday was the actual birthday. We picked the kids up and headed to the Trains at Northpark.
It is a holiday tradition that we skipped last year. Let me tell you, Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 is the perfect time for seeing the trains. There were no lines, it wasn't crowded, we could wander as long as we wanted. Same goes for Santa but the kids were in school uniforms, so we skipped the pictures. Instead we window shopped at the new Disney store, the Lego store & Puzzle Zoo.
Afterward, we ate Franki's pizza and leftover brownies from his class birthday snack. And opened more presents.
I was thrilled that B wanted a worm farm for his birthday. I have to send away for worm eggs. Hopefully they will live until the spring and we can add them to the garden.
And the birthday celebrations continue on Saturday when B gets his very first friend birthday party. The weather looks like it is holding out for me, mid 60s. Good because all I have planned is have the boys run around outside.
