Holiday at the Park

A's dance school did a show on one of the stages at Holiday in the Park at Six Flags. Normally I avoid the place like the plague. When you go in the summer, it is hot and crowded and lines and expensive. We got discounted tickets so it wasn't outrageously expensive to get in and the weather was beautiful with temps in the upper 60s/low 70s.

The park opened at 2:00 and after traffic and lines, we got into the park just after 3:00. A had to be at the dance stage at 4:30 so we had some time for rides. The first thing we rode was Old Fashioned Cars. B insisted that DH ride in the back and he be the chauffeur. I just noticed he is driving left footed!

A decided to drive for the first time. It's a good thing there is a track to keep the car in line. (Just kidding, J & I survived without any scary moments!)

We headed to the Shock Wave, the big roller coaster with a double loop-d-loop. The whole way to Six Flags, B was full of bravado, insisting that he was going to ride the Shock Wave. He got the entrance to the ramp to get in line and had a change of heart.

DH tried to talk him into it. I told him that it was a fun ride and I would go on it. J, on the other hand, was behind B telling him he's crazy and that it was too scary and he would never step foot on the thing if he was B. J won out. Maybe next time, B!

They did ride the Mini Mine Train and had fun.

We rode a couple of little rides as we made our way to the dance stage. DH & B went to ride more while I waited with J & A for the dance to start.

A is the girl on the right. She danced a fine dance, lovely as ever.

We met up with another family at the dance. The two middle daughters danced with A. Their oldest son babysits for us sometimes and the boys love him. Their youngest is in B's class this year. We all had a fun time hanging out with them. The older kids went on a few rides, B & little A went on a couple small rides.

DH & B (the son) left us to go ride some of the big roller coasters. His parents were so happy not to have to suffer through the coasters with their B.

Our B wanted to play the games so much. I kept saying no. Little A's dad finally took the two of them over to the basketball toss. This was the one B really wanted to do.

He took his two shots and promptly lost. Unfortunately, Little A walked over and tossed one in with a little hook shot. She was so lucky. She proudly wore a neon pink metallic squid hat. B cried but at least it wasn't a total meltdown!

We really did have a lot of fun. If we ever get the group ticket discount and the beautiful weather, I'd do it again.
