In order to go to the Aggie game at SMU, we bought SMU season tickets. Since we had tickets, DH & B joined S#2 & her family for the TCU v SMU game on Saturday.  The rest of us had other plans. J went camping with Boy Scouts. A & I had some mother/daughter bonding over toe shoes & pedicures.

Last weekend the whole family headed out to another football game. This time we didn't have to travel far since A&M was playing at SMU. It is a fun school for tailgating and we saw lots of Aggie friends. I think B was indoctrinated to the whole Aggie thing. He might want to be a Yell Leader some day. He loved it all. The game itself was a blowout and kind of boring. We were some of the few who stayed for the whole game. A was glad she brought her book with her.

DH & I went to South Bend for the Michigan game with S#2 & family, S#5 & a cousin or two. We hadn't been back since S#5's senior year/22nd birthday celebration. It was a great weekend to go. DH ran into Dick Vitale in the new bookstore. We tailgated with BIL#2's roommates and enjoyed jello shots from a neighboring tailgate. The weather was perfect for a football game. Our seats were on the very top row of the stadium, but they were still good seats. We had a terrific view of the field and the campus. Best of all, ND won. Big!

Bonus for the weekend, we were able to stop for a quick visit with a high school friend & her family on our way out of town.  Next time, we need to plan for a longer visit!

birthday at TCU

Saturday was B's real birthday. TCU had a game that afternoon. DH & the boys joined S#2 & family for a day of tailgating and football. They had to leave early, so we got up to give B his presents.

My one handed wrapping consisted of amazon boxes folded close and bags left over from the party the day before. He didn't seem to care and there wasn't a big mess.

football & flight

i'm so slow on blogging these days. blme that silly full time job. i know when i'm behind when the husband sends me pictures from his phone. here's some from last week. b had a soccer tournament. i spent friday & saturday driving out to bfe at ungodly hours to watch 7 year olds kick the ball around.

saturday, while i was enjoying soccer, j& dh went to enjoy a day at smu. friends had great parking spots, tailgating on the boulevard and catered suite for the game.

they had fun, so much fun, that the husbands, who i thought were going to take the boys to the 8pm game on saturday night, decided it would be better if the wives drove the little boys instead. fun, more soccer! (Actually, it was good game and i like watching b play. it's just fun to give dh a hard time.)

wednesday this week, dh took b on a cub scout outing to the frontiers of flight museum.

i think they had fun except b spent too much time playing in the ejector seat and missing the tour inside the big plane. tears ensued.

i need to work on my vocabulary, i overused fun.

Alabama game

DH's birthday was 10 days ago. For his birthday, he found tickets to the A&M/Alabama game on StubHub. He called me up to tell me he bought his birthday present.

He flew down to Houston meet BIL#2 on Friday. They went to the Astros game on that night and headed to College Station Saturday morning.

He, BIL & BIL's boss had a good time tailgating and hanging out on Northgate. About an hour before the start, they headed into the stadium. When the first ticket scanned, the scanner said "STOP". The ticket guy sent them them to the ticket office. Sure enough, the tickets were counterfeit. It was not a happy situation. The ticket lady was very nice. She offered to sell them tickets at face value. What a stroke of luck. The tickets were better seats, in the shade and less than1/3 the price he paid for tickets on StubHub.

They were finally in the stadium ready to watch a good football game. After all they went through to get to the game, it would have been nice to have the comeback win. Almost.

On the way home to Dallas, DH called StubHub to figure out what they could do about the counterfeit tickets. StubHub was just as great as the Aggie Ticket Office. They immediately credited our credit card for the cost of the tickets he purchased. They also gave him a StubHub credit for the cost of the replacement tickets they purchased that day. Nice customer service, StubHub!

Go Ravens 2013!

A long time ago for Christmas of '07, S#2 got B a Christmas present. At the time he was obsessed with football. He would walk around the house yelling "Football, Touchdown!" She wanted to buy him a Cowboys outfit, but it was too expensive, instead she found a Ravens outfit on eBay for $.99.

Wasn't he cute? The whole thing barely fit him. He still ran through the house yelling "Football, Touchdown!" with the helmet wobbling on his head.

He's worn that outfit a lot. He squeezed into it as long as he could. Here he is almost 4 years later.

A year or so later, he could no longer squeeze into the costume. We recently donated the shirt and pants. He insisted on keeping his Ravens helmet. It's a good thing because he was ready for the Super Bowl on Sunday night.

My little Baltimore Ravens fan was excited for his team to win.

BIL#2 organized a squares pool for the big game. A & B were lucky and won the first and second quarters.

J was robbed twice. At the end of the 3rd quarter, SF missed a field goal. J was going to win the quarter, but there was a penalty. SF kicked again, it was good and J didn't win. At the end of the 4th quarter, Baltimore had the ball and was just running out the clock. I left the room because the game was over. Next thing I know, DH is yelling that J was robbed again. (Really aside from B, we were all watching the game to see who would win the squares pool, not to see who would win the football game.) He came in to tell me that Baltimore was running around wasting time and ran out the endzone, taking a safety. J who was assured his $20 for the last quarter, lost it to S#5. Poor J. Maybe next year!

Gig 'Em

Saturday morning DH and I got up before the crack of dawn to head down to College Station. S#5 was suckered bribed generously offered to be me for the day. She came over at 5:30, took kids to soccer at 8, golf at 9, volleyball games at 11 & 12, soccer and dance at 2 with lots and lots of driving in between. Thank heavens for sisters.

We left early and scored a good parking spot behind North Gate. Our friends from Houston arrived 20 minutes later. After enjoying a beverage or two in the parking lot, we headed to the game.

The first quarter and most of the second quarter were a good for A&M. Unfortunately, LSU caught a huge pass at the end of the 1st half and the momentum seemed to turn. LSU ended up on top. Poor DH, Happy Courtney.

We headed back toward the cars, lucked into a short line at Freebirds, grabbed some water and diet coke from the car and headed to a tailgate party. They had a tv and were gracious enough to turn to the ND game for me. It was 14-7 with ND losing (Oh NO!) when we arrived. I got to see the field goal and the go ahead touchdown, so I got to see the good parts. We left before the game was over to head back home. Luckily we held the lead and won.

After a quick 3 hour drive, we arrived home to happy children and one tired sister. It was a fun day and I'm glad we were able to fit in our busy schedule.
