Back to School 2014

It was not a simple first day of school this year. Three kids in three difference schools lead to a week of back to school activities.

B was up first on Monday.

B is 1) standing nicely smiling for Mom, 2) being excited about third grade, and 3) showing how he really feels about the end of summer.

It was very strange walking him into class all by himself, but I think he kind of liked it. His teacher wasn't in the classroom yet, so I didn't get that picture. Another mom told the boys to hold up three fingers for third grade. Of course B took it to the extreme.

Tuesday was Opening Ceremonies at J's new school.

I neglected to take pictures of J by himself. I did take pictures when he tried on his dress uniform on Monday night.

Here are pictures of the boys together. Of course they had to be goofy. The repeated eye-rolling led into all out back to school craziness.

DH took J to his first day at his new school, Cistercian. I thought he'd be more nervous, but he wasn't. Hopefully that is a sign of a good year to come. They had Opening Ceremony (which was just a mass with all the boys in the blazers & dress pants) and then eye & hearing check, pictures, and all the other first day of school necessities.

Thursday was A's first day of Freshman Orientation at Ursuline.

She missed taking pictures with her brothers so she tried to get the dog to stand in. It didn't really work.

We picked up cousin E. They smiled prettily for the first couple of pictures and then turned as goofy as the boys. I think they were attempting to recreate the past pciture, they need to work on the pose!

Carpool line to drop them off took forever! All the parents were getting out of the car taking pictures of the President and Principal of UA shaking hands with the new freshmen. I told them I would skip it and just took a picture out the window of the car. I still can't believe the twin cousins are now high school freshmen. It was just a minute ago they were little girls!

A still has her first day of classes on Monday. I'm working on convincing her to be ready early enough to get a picture of all three kids in uniform. We'll see if teenager sleepiness overrules family photo time.

First Day of School 2013

Today was every parent's favorite day of the year, the first day back to school. I can't believe that summer is over.

The older two took off and went to their classrooms by themselves. DH & I walked B to his classroom. At least he still lets us.

I think they all had a good day. Summer was nice but I think it will be nice to get back into routine.

First Day of School 2012

Today was the first day of school.  I was mostly prepared. I didn't sleep through my alarm and the kids were up with plenty of time to get ready for school. I made lunches with mini chop fruit salad as requested.  (It is S#2's special recipe.  Basically it is fruit salad cut into a teeny, tiny dice.) The kids had clean uniforms and A's skirts was hemmed the way she wanted.

What I failed on this year was pictures.  I haven't used my big camera in a while.  I didn't bother to check the battery on it.  I was only able to get one picture.  Even the pop the battery out and back in trick didn't work.  I went searching for my cell phone and finally found it in my car, uncharged.  It could hardly turn on let alone take a picture. At least DH had his blackberry.

Not the best pictures but at least the day is documented.

First Day of School 2011

It's the first day of school today and not the best start for everyone.

J was very nervous. He was up a couple times in the middle of the night. At 6am he finally crawled in next to me crying. He said he didn't feel good. Bad mother was dismissing it has nerves making him feel sick. Then I scratched his back and realized he was hot. It wasn't nerves, it was a 101 fever. J is home sick on the first day of school.

A & B had a good morning. A was over her nerves and ready for school, looking very grown up in her new skirt. B got up without any issues, got dressed with minimal issues (only 3 sock changes before his shoes made it on his feet) and was all set for kindergarten!

Luckily, S#2 lives down the street from St. Monica.  We dropped J off to lay on her couch while we took the other two to school.

We walked A to her class only because she forgot a bag of classroom supplies and she didn't want to carry it. I think she was embarrassed by us walking with her. She stayed several paces in front of us.

After dropping off the supplies, we took B to his classroom. He got the teacher I really wanted.  She's my best friend's sister.  He hung up his bag, got his nametag & sat down at his place to read books.  He looked up at me and whispered that he didn't know how to read.  I told him it was okay, that's why he's in kindergarten, to learn how to read.

I pray that J gets better soon and they all have a really good year.

First Day of School 2010

This morning I returned to my life of drudgery, waking up children, forcing them to dress in uniforms, making lunches and driving them to school. I don't think I was any more ready for the kids to return to school then they were. Luckily this morning went very well for all.

and took off down the hall. Moms do not walk 5th graders to their room on the first day of school!

The First Day

Photobucket

I love the first day of school. I didn't have to drag the kids out of bed. They got up and got dressed all on their own. There was no yelling, screaming or crying, even when the cereal bowl spilled. If only every morning could be this pleasant!

First Day

Well, we had a good morning on the first day of school. There were no tears/yelling/screaming before leaving. There were no tears/yelling/screaming upon drop off. I definitely call that successful.

A took off down the hall, plopped herself next to her friend and waited in line. We didn't wait to walk her into the classroom and she was perfectly fine with that. She did tolerate a good luck kiss goodbye and one picture.

We dropped off J second. He was perfectly fine too. He put his bookbag away, got out his markers and colored his butterfly picture. We gave him a quick kiss goodbye and took off.

Of course, I took a picture before we left for school. Here are their bright & shiny faces.
