We have counters and sinks. Plumber comes on Monday to hook up fixtures. Tuesday is for installing hooks, etc, touching up paint. The end really is in sight.
Last Saturday was AutumnFest. It was a busy day. At 6am as I was getting ready for the day, I realized it was too busy. My schedule:
7am DPL cross country meet
8:30 DH - Autumnfest
11:30 J's band concert at Autumnfest
12:00 A volunteer at Autumnfest
12:30 B soccer game in PFE Plano
2:30 J baseball game in PFE Carrollton
4:00 Me volunteer at Autumnfest
7:00 Me volunteer at Autumnfest
There was no way I was going to be able to get B to the soccer game, get B from the soccer game, J to the baseball game, get J from the baseball game and make it in time to volunteer at the school. DH was in charge the beer tent and was stuck at the school all day. He was able to able to sneak away after the band concert to get J home and changed for the baseball game. Friends took him to the game. I called my father in to pick him up and bring him back to Autumnfest. DH paid him back for his trouble with a couple of beers from the beer tent.
J playing with the band at Autumnfest
Volunteering at the King Kong slide
2nd grade boys at the talent show
A rainbow at the end of the day - the weather held out.
DH took pictures of him running in his first meet, sponsored by a local running store.
He ran in his first DPL meet last Saturday.
He is improving. His time in his second Luke's Locker meet was faster than the first by 3 minutes. His pace in the DPL meet was faster than the Luke's Locker time. Even better, I think he's having fun.
We have toilets, a major improvement in our lives. It is not fun sharing one bathroom with 5 people. So glad I didn't grow up in the 50's.
Boy's bath
A's Bath
So far, I'm happy with the paint. There are parts of the floors that bug me, but they can be covered up with a bath mat. Counters and sinks should be in by the end of the week. The end is in sight!
The tile is definitely less green looking in real life. I blame cell phone and bad lighting. A wanted to keep her bathroom purple. We did go a shade lighter. J wanted the bathroom white. I went with a very light grey. I'm not sure if I will keep it or not. It has a blue hint to it that I'm not sure I like. We were suppose to stain the cabinets. They weren't exactly what I wanted. I wanted overlay doors and we got inset doors. Miscommunication with contractors. All along I've been thinking I should ask for a picture of the cabinets. Darn me for ignoring myself. Instead of staining them and being annoyed by the grain in the face of the cabinets every time I walk in the bathroom, I decided to paint them. Which meant I had to pick a paint color. The floors and the tile were covered up while they textured the balls. I peeled back the tape on an inch or so of wall and floor while holding the paint chip book up and folding the strips around to compare the wall color to possible cabinet colors. It was difficult, but I decided. As I was typing the email to send to the contractor I changed my mind. I opened up the book of colors, picked a new one and sent the email. I showed DH afterwards and he approved. Fingers crossed it works out.
They still have to paint the trim and the cabinets. The countertop guy was here on Monday to measure. The sinks and fixtures are in the boys' room. I can see an end. Of course I still have to purchase knobs/pull/towel hooks.
